6/21/2023 0 Comments Waterfall braid into a bun![]() Long or short, blonde or brunette, this hairdo looks beautiful on every woman. You can wear this just as easily during an everyday activity, like an office meeting, as you would to a formal event. I thought I had tried every braid there is, but she has definitely proved me wrong.A waterfall braid is a style that allows you to weave a circle, horizontal or diagonal plait throughout loose hair with strands flowing through it like streams in a real waterfall. Katie also has a blog on blogspot and you can find her on youtube, go and check it out. ![]() I challenge you to go on Instagram, and find the hairdo I was trying to copy: It looks nice enough here, but nothing like what I was trying to do. I have tried a lot of other braids from Here is one that went quite wrong. And if you have practiced braiding a bit, and have some patience, it’s really not that difficult to make. (I think I really need to do some tutorials instead of adding links, but I can’t braid and film at the same time…)Īnyway, I thought this was beautiful. Next, go onto do a ladder braid, but instead of adding a whole strand from the waterfall braid, add a third of a strand at a time to the lower braid. This one is quite tricky to make: you first need to do a waterfall braid, but only drop a strand to the left at every other stitch. So finally I succeeded when I did the braid on my eldest daughter: This one I tried a couple of times on my 4-year-old, but her hair just isn’t thick enough to split the hair strands from a waterfall braid into 3. I’ve been trying them out with varying success. I’ve found a great new inspiration: I follow her on Instagram She does amazing hairdos, most of them just my style. Next, I had to pack my combs, brushes, hairspray and pins and rush to Skidit – kids’ festival, where my husband was setting up my braiding stall… And that’s where the real challenge of the day was: 5 hours of braiding to follow in the next blog-post… Unfortunately, I was in a rush, so didn’t get a picture of the fourth wedding hairdo that I did! The third bridesmaid had a picture of three dutch braids she liked, so we did the dutch braids and then made it into an up-do with a braided bun. I can’t normally do waterfall braids that well, so I was very happy with this one! So next was waterfall braids into french braids into a bun. (She returned from the wedding at 1:30 am, and her hair was still perfect.)Īll of the bridesmaids wanted an up-do as it was a very hot day. I’ve done this on my sister and my daughter many times, so it was fairly quick to do and we knew it would last well. ![]() We started at 7:30 am! Luckily we had done a trial earlier in the week, so it was a fairly easy job… But of course my hands were shaking a bit, as I’ve never done anything as important as bridesmaid’s styles!įirst, my sister got one of my favourites: a double starburst bun. So, I had promised to do 3 bridesmaids’ hair for a friend’s wedding, and one other wedding guest squeezed in the queue as well. I braided 35 heads on Saturday! Most of you have probably already heard about this, but I felt like I need to tell you the whole story! Here I’ve done it on 1) long & thick hair, 2) mid-length & fairly thin and 3) short & thin hair. Few days ago I did a normal 4-strand with pearls:Īnd last but not least, my favourite hairdo, that will work on almost any type of hair: double starburst bun. Intricate braids take a lot more time, but are beautiful and eye-catching:Īccessories can turn any hairdo a bit fancier. Here, couple of quick ones from last summer: Ladder braid updos look great, and there are a million variations. If you like these and you’re looking for a Christmas present idea for someone near Helsinki, I have gift vouchers for sale in my online shop. I thought I’d compile some of my favourite hairdos for special occasions. ![]() I’ve been asked to do a lot of braids for all kinds of parties from weddings to school reunions. ![]()
