6/20/2023 0 Comments The riftbreaker ending![]() ![]() Rather than just sit around watching my defenses murder my enemies, I actually get to take part in the murdering of my enemies! While letting automatons murder for you may be more socially acceptable, it’s just not as satisfying. Do I have enough time to go create another mine? Can I get by one more horde with my current set up? Which resources should I focus on in my limited time? It’s a very enjoyable rhythm if a bit simple right now.īase building and Action RPG gameplay work well together. I enjoy the horde mechanic quite a bit here. ![]() Your base is swarmed by alien hordes in set intervals and, as you might expect, these hordes get more and more difficult as time passes. You have to search for resources, build defenses, and slaughter hundreds of aliens. The Riftbreaker starts by placing you on an alien planet with the goal of surviving long enough to build a portal back to earth. The combat is fun enough but a little one-note right now. Or expand on the exploration factor by having you survive waves of enemies while exploring the map for certain items. Maybe random enemy buffs and abilities to make battle more unpredictable would be one fun way to spice it up. This is entertaining enough, but it would be nice to see some more creative game modes. One is more of a tutorial to teach me how to do everything and the next is a randomized scenario where I have to survive long enough to build a portal back to earth. Right now, I was only able to play through two different game modes. Smooth out some technical problems and expand the gameplay and there is a really good game here. Still, for an early preview, I enjoyed my time with The Riftbreaker and see a lot of potential here. Building a base, expanding, protecting, and exploring is an enjoyable loop even if it isn’t perfect. My run had come to an end, but what a fun run it was. Players can expect to pick up The Riftbreaker on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.Swarmed on all sides by dozens and dozens of enemy aliens, I realized I was most certainly screwed. While there is no set release date, the team at EXOR Studios is aiming for a release window of the second half of 2020 for The Riftbreaker. Audience members can summon more waves of enemies, activate natural disasters, and even aid the player with resource drops. The game also features some streaming integration, where viewers will be able to affect the game on the fly. There are dozens, if not hundreds of enemies on-screen at any given moment. The Riftbreaker is also visually impressive. In order to use these weapons, players will need to craft them, which requires adventuring out beyond the relative safety of your base to search for resources. ![]() The Riftbreaker site lists energy blades, flamethrowers, miniguns, and mortars as just a few of the available attachments. Mr Riggs (Ashley’s mech), can be outfitted with a variety of weapons. The end goal is to construct a two-way portal back to Earth so that humanity can spread to the new planet.įrom the gameplay featured above, the combat looks to be intense and fast-paced. Players go out on expeditions, killing hundreds of aliens, all in an effort to improve their basecamp. Lekki likens the Riftbreaker to that of Diablo and Starcraft. But you’re not growing crops and managing livestock, you’re building turrets and shredding the alien lifeforms with your arsenal of weapons. Players take on the role of Ashley Nowak, an elite commando equipped with a mech who’s been sent on a one-way trip to populate a new planet on the other side of the galaxy.
